ABOUT PATICK DENIS
Who am I?
Patrick Denis is an established commercial photographer, tutor, mentor and lecturer who holds an artistic temperament built around technical and commercial awareness, and creative flare.
I have a first-class honours degree in Photography and am an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS).

Before my career in education, I developed a broad professional and academic profile studying a range of degree courses across several university institutions including the Staffordshire University, The London School of Economics and Bournemouth University. I began my freelance photographic career in 1997 moving through editorial, and commercial photography. During my time as an undergraduate student, I began to specialise in Architectural Photography and was lucky enough to spend 5 years assisting the South African photographer and co-founder of View Pictures, Dennis Gilbert (RIBA). From here, I went on to build my own architectural photographic practice, gradually developing a national and international client base.
At the same time my commercial photography was moving forward, I found a passion for teaching and for 7 years balanced the two before concentrating on teaching. I developed my teaching profile at Bournemouth and Poole College and more recently Wiltshire College/Bournemouth University.
Vocational Teaching (2005 -2013)
Outside of secondary and tertiary education I have designed and ran several successful creative and vocational photography courses aligned to industry recognition (BIPP and RPS distinctions) rather than academic qualification.
I gained my second teaching qualification; Advanced (HEA) Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Practice at Bournemouth University in August 2020.
I retired from full-time front-line teaching in 2020 and since then have continued to run my own creative photography courses in partnership with Bournemouth and Poole college and undertaken visiting lecturing roles at local educational establishments on an ad hoc basis.
Achievements
I successfully ran my own photography freelance work for 10 years accumulating work across different editorial and commercial industries and across territories include the USA and Europe.
Academically I oversaw the recruitment, retention and achievement of scores and scores of adult educations, A level and degree students.
